“A truly great listening room for jazz.” Bassist John J Williamson, originally from Saltburn on the North Yorkshire coast, and pianist David Ferris, who grew up in Cornwall are now involved in the running of one of London’s cornerstone weekly gigs, Jazz at the Oxford Tavern. Sessions take place every Monday in Kentish Town. Full details below:

Jazz at the Oxford began in the early 2000s with the Loop Collective, and from 2009-2016 was run by the saxophonist George Crowley. Most recently, guitarist Will Arnold-Forster re-started the night and ran it for three years before passing it on to me and David.

The reason we have all bothered over the years is because the upstairs room at the Oxford is a truly great listening room for jazz. Audiences get to see the very best musicians the scene has to offer – along with international visitors – in an informal, friendly, music-focused atmosphere.

We are blessed with sufficient enquiries from performers to sustain a consistently excellent programme. Scroll through our website (link below) for recent listings.

You can find out more and keep up to date via the channels below. We hope to see you soon. John and Dave

The programme for July includes:

  • Miles Mindlin & Alexandra Ridout,
  • Helena Kay
  • Rachael Cohen
  • The London Django Project.
